20 พ.ค. 2555...ครั้งนี้เป็นครั้งแรกที่ได้ไปเยือนเมืองซาน ฟรานซิสโก ตอนแรกไม่มีความคิดที่จะไปเมืองนี้เลยเพราะคิดว่าเมืองอื่นๆ น่าสนใจกว่าทั้งๆ ที่รู้จักเมืองซาน ฟรานซิสโกมานานแสนนาน แต่เพื่อนที่ทำงานเก่าคนหนึ่งบอกว่าเมืองนี้สวยมากและมีอะไรให้ชมเยอะ และยังบอกอีกว่าชอบซาน ฟรานซิสโกมากกว่าที่ Los Angeles หลายเท่านัก เลยทำให้เริ่มหันมาสนใจและค้นคว้าหาข้อมูลมากขึ้นจนทำให้พบว่าเมืองนี้น่าสนใจกว่าที่คิดไว้ เลยตัดสินใจจองตั๋วและโรงแรมสำหรับการไปพักรวมเวลาทั้งหมด 6 คืน 7 วัน และได้จองทัวร์อื่นๆ เพื่อไปเที่ยวเมืองใกล้ๆ ไว้อีกด้วย
May 20, 2012....This was my first time to visit San Francisco. This city had never been on my mind before as I'd always thought it wasn't interesting enough for me for some reason, but I was wrong.
One of my old colleagues said she loved this city so much as it was very beautiful and there were so many things to do and see. She even said she preferred San Francisco to Los Angeles.
At first I didn't agree with her at all because I personally liked Los Angeles, especially Santa Monica, a lot. She kept telling me how beautiful San Francisco was, so I started to do some more research and fell in love with the city. Finally, I decided to book the plane tickets and the hotel for six nights and also booked sightseeing tours in the San Francisco Bay area.
และแล้วก็บินถึงสนามบินที่ซาน ฟรานซิสโกประมาณ 9 โมงครึ่งตอนเช้า รอรับกระเป๋าเสร็จก็ไปที่ประชาสัมพันธ์เพื่อซื้อตั๋ว Muni Pass สำหรับ 7 วัน ราคาตอนนั้น US$ 27 ไว้สำหรับขึ้นรถรางและรถเมลล์ได้ไม่จำกัดภายในช่วง 7 วัน โดยที่ต้องหาอะไรมาขูดเพื่อให้ตั๋วนั้นโชว์วันที่ทั้งหมดที่เราจะใช้ จะเริ่มใช้วันไหนก็ให้เริ่มขูดวันที่นั้นเป็นวันแรกให้ครบ 7 วันติดต่อกันเท่านั้น จะขูดเลือกเฉพาะวันที่ที่ต้องการจะใช้ไม่ได้นะคะ อย่างในกรณีนี้ก็ขูดให้โชว์วันที่ 20 ไปจนถึงวันที่ 26 รวมเวลา 7 วันพอดีค่ะ เข้าไปดูรายละเอียดได้ที่ http://www.sfmta.com/cms/mfares/passports.htm
จากนั้นก็ออกไปนอกประตูเพื่อหาที่รอขึ้นรถ shuttle ไปยังโรงแรม ไม่ได้จองล่วงหน้าไว้ก็เลยต้องจ่ายเต็มราคา ที่จริงทราบมาว่า ถ้าโทรไปจองก่อนล่วงหน้า 1 วันจะประหยัดเงินไปได้อีกหลายตังค์ แต่ไม่อยากโทรทางไกลข้ามประเทศและนัดเวลาไว้เผื่อเครื่องบินล่าช้าจะได้ไม่ต้องกังวลใจ ถึงสนามบินเมื่อไหร่ก็ค่อยออกไปหารถเอาเองเลยก็ได้
Time passed by fast...Finally, my husband and I arrived at the airport in San Francisco around 9:30 am. After picking up our luggage, we went to the Customer Service counter to buy a 7-Day Muni Pass for US $27 so that we could use the cable cars, street cars, and Muni buses for unlimited rides during our stay. Then we went to a shuttle bus waiting area to get to the hotel. We could have saved a lot more if we'd booked the shuttle bus tickets one day in advance but didn't want to make international calls and be worried about missing the shuttle bus' pickup time if the flight was delayed.
รถ Shuttle มาส่งถึงที่โรงแรมประมาณ 10 โมงครึ่งกว่าๆ ได้ห้องพักชั้นที่ 17 Tower Building ที่โรงแรม The Fairmont San Francisco ไม่ได้จ่ายราคาเต็มแต่มีคนขออัพเกรดห้องให้และได้ห้องที่ตึกนี้ซึ่งตั้งอยู่บนเนินที่สูงกว่า เห็นวิวสวยกว่า เสียดายไม่ได้วิวที่เห็นสะพานโกลเด้นเกท แต่ก็ยังได้เห็นวิวที่สวยและมองเห็นทะเล ชอบห้องพักมากค่ะ สวยและน่าอยู่มาก และที่ตั้งของโรงแรมนี้ก็ดีมากเพราะมี Cable car ผ่านทั้ง 3 สาย เดินทางสะดวกมาก
We arrived at the Fairmont San Francisco hotel around 10:30 am. We got a free upgrade (through a connection) to a room on the 17th floor of the Tower building, which were supposed to be newer rooms with preferred views of the Golden Gate Bridge & and the Bay.
Too bad we didn't get the Golden Gate Bridge view, but were still able to see the Bay from our room. We loved our room very much, it was very beautiful and comfortable. The location of the hotel was very convenient as there were three cable car lines just steps from the hotel door.

วันนั้นอากาศดีมาก เลยตัดสินใจว่าจะไปเดินเล่นชมวิวแถวๆ ริมอ่าวทะเลและหาร้านสำหรับทานอาหารกลางวัน ตอนแรกจะนั่งรถ Cable car ลงไป แต่ขึ้นสาย Powell-Mason และ Powell-Hyde ไม่ทัน เลยไปยืนรอที่ป้ายจอดของอีกสายหนึ่งคือ California Line ( http://www.sfcablecar.com/routes.html )เพื่อลงไปยัง Ferry Building แทนเพราะที่นั่นเป็นเหมือนตลาด indoor มีร้านอาหารและอื่นๆ อีกมากมาย แต่รอไปได้ไม่กี่นาทีรถรางก็ยังไม่มา เลยตัดสินใจเดินลงเนินไปที่ Pier 39 ดีกว่าจะได้ชมวิวระหว่างทางด้วย ใช้เวลาเดินไปเรื่อยๆ ประมาณ 30 นาทีได้
It was very nice and sunny the day we arrived, so we decided to take the cable car down to have lunch in the bay area. However, we changed our minds and decided to walk down the hills instead because we'd missed all three cable car lines ( http://www.sfcablecar.com/routes.html ) and didn't want to wait any longer.
It was a good walk as we enjoyed walking through different neighborhoods, and the weather was pretty warm. It took us around 30 minutes to get to Pier 39 on foot.

ไปหาทานอาหารกลางวันกันที่ร้านอาหาร Pier Market Seafood ที่ Pier 39 คนมาทานอาหารค่อนข้างเยอะแต่โชคดีที่ไปถึงร้านก็ได้ที่นั่งใกล้หน้าต่างพอดี วิวสวยดีค่ะ
We had lunch at Pier Market Seafood Restaurant on Pier 39. It was pretty busy but we got seated right away near the windows. The view was beautiful.

I'd printed out a coupon from a website to get a free cup of their award winning clam chowder with the purchase of an entree. ( http://www.sftravelcoupons.com/couponsearch.cgi?category=5 ).
The soup was very tasty, I really loved it. It was as good as the clam chowder from the famous Boudin's, or maybe even better! I loved the clam chowder soup bowls from both restaurants, each of them had its own unique taste. I couldn't nail down which one I preferred, but both were very good.

My entree "Crab Cake Dinner". I was very disappointed because it wasn't as good as I thought it'd be. The menu said it was their fabulous crabs cake served with Cajun remoulade, but for me, it was a waste of money!
I'd had much better crab cakes elsewhere before, so this was by far the worst crab cakes I'd ever tasted. The dipping sauce was so-so, I felt that it lacked some seasoning. I wouldn't order this dish again.

"Fish and Chips" This was my husband's dish. I had a bite and found it a bit bland. Again, I'd had it much better elsewhere. My husband said it was pretty good, though.
ทานอิ่มแล้วก็ออกไปเดินเล่นชมวิว วันนั้นอากาศค่อนข้างอุ่น แต่ริมอ่าวทะเลอากาศจะไม่เหมือนอากาศในพื้นที่ในตัวเมืองที่อยู่ห่างจากริมทะเล ลมพัดแรงมากเลยค่ะและค่อนข้างหนาวเย็น ใครที่ไม่ชินกับความหนาวควรจะเตรียมเสื้อแจ๊กเกตไว้ จากที่เดินรับลมอุ่นอยู่ดีๆ ในตัวเมือง แต่พอมาเดินติดขอบริมอ่าวทะเลเท่านั้นแหละ หนาวเลยค่ะ แต่ชินแล้วเลยพอทนได้ เสียอยู่อย่างเดียววันนั้นแถวริมทะเลลมพัดแรงมากเกินไปหน่อยค่ะจนเสื้อเปิดเลย ต้องคอยเอามือปิดไว้เวลาถ่ายรูป
Though the weather was very nice and warm that day, it was only warm inland. When we walked along the bay, it was very cool and windy. I'd have put on a jacket if I'd had one on hand. Anyway, I felt okay as I got used to the cold weather.

สิงโตทะเลที่ Pier 39 มีอยู่ตัวหนึ่งแกล้งดันเพื่อนให้ตกน้ำด้วย นักท่องเที่ยวชอบใจกันใหญ่
The sea lions at Pier 39. One of them was bullying his fellow by pushing him off the dock. All the tourists seemed to enjoy watching that.
We kept walking from Pier 39 to Fisherman's Wharf area. There we found the famous Boudin Bakery shop located on Jefferson street. We enjoyed watching the making of sourdough bread from the sidewalk.
If you're interested, you can also do the Museum and Bakery Tour with a small fee. You can get in free of charge if you dine in at Bistro Boudin restaurant upstairs.
We didn't dine at the restaurant, but ordered clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl in the Bakers Hall on the first floor instead. We also bought some canned clam chowder soup and other souvenirs from this location. Later on we found out that the price of the canned clam chowder soup from Boudin Bakery and Cafe at Macy's Union Square was slightly cheaper.
เดินต่อไปเรื่อยๆ จนถึงป้าย Fisherman's Wharf ชื่อดัง แบบว่าใครมาที่นี่แล้วไม่ได้ถ่ายรูปคู่กับป้ายนี้มาจะเหมือนกับว่าไปไม่ถึงที่นี่ ด้านหลังป้ายจะเป็นตรอกเล็กๆ มีหลายร้านขายอาหารทะเลข้างทาง ส่วนใหญ่ที่เห็นด้านนอกจะเป็นอาหารทะเลทอด ไม่ได้ซื้ออะไรมาทานเพราะยังอิ่มอยู่ และไม่ค่อยชอบที่นี่เท่าไหร่เพราะพื้นที่แถวนี้ดูสกปรก และก็ไม่รู้ว่าจะไปนั่งทานตรงไหน คนส่วนใหญ่ก็นั่งทานริมข้างทางนั่นแหละ
Finally we arrived at the famous "Fisherman's Wharf" sign. There were lots of shops selling seafood dishes in the small alley behind the sign (mostly deep-fried seafood ones from what I could see from the street). I didn't try any because I was still full.
Most people just stood and ate on the sidewalk because there weren't any seats available outside. I didn't like this area that much as I found it quite dirty.

Here we arrived at the Ghirardelli Square to try their famous ice cream. It was very crowded inside the shop on Sunday. We couldn't find any seats at all, so we had to make a take-out order instead.
ซื้อออกมาทานข้างนอกซึ่งคนก็เยอะมากเช่นเดียวกัน วันอาทิตย์ตอนบ่ายๆ คนเยอะมากเกินไป พอไปอีกทีวันธรรมดาคนไม่เยอะเท่ากับวันอาทิตย์ โชคดีตาไวเห็นม้านั่งอยู่ที่เดียวว่างอยู่ เหมือนมีใครมาจับจองที่ส่วนตัวนี้ให้โดยเฉพาะ โชคดีจริงๆ ไอศกรีมน่าทานมั้ยคะ แพงเหมือนกันแต่อยากลองของอร่อยๆ ชื่อดัง เลยพลาดไม่ได้ สั่ง Hot Fudge Sundae ซอสคาราเมลมาทานค่ะ อร่อยเข้มข้นดีค่ะ
It was also very crowded outside, but we were lucky to find a private spot to enjoy our Hot Fudge Sundae ice cream with caramel sauce. It was very yummy. Do you want some?

ตรงนี้เป็นที่กลับรถรางเคเบิ้ลของสาย Powell-Hyde ที่ Fisherman's Wharf คนต่อแถวเยอะมาก เลยเดินผ่านไปเลยเพราะตั้งใจจะกลับเข้าไปดูของที่ร้าน Boudin อีก และจะไปนั่งรถเคเบิ้ลสาย California กลับโรงแรมแทนเพราะไม่ต้องต่อคิว
Powell-Hyde Cable Car Line Turn-Around at Fisherman's Wharf - Lots of people were standing in line, so we didn't bother to wait. We decided to take the F-line street car to the Ferry Building and walked a bit further to get on the California line in the Financial district area and take it back to our hotel. We never had to wait in line there at all.
ถึงจะอิ่มมากและเพิ่งทานไอศกรีมชื่อดังไป แต่อยากลองของอร่อยจากร้านชื่อดังให้ครบภายในวันเดียว เลยอดไม่ได้ที่จะแวะเข้าไปซื้อ Clam chowder ในถ้วยขนมปัง Sourdough มาชิมเสียหน่อย รสชาติอร่อยแต่ผิดหวังตรงที่ไม่มีเนื้อ Clam ให้มากนัก วันหลังได้ไปทานอีกที่สาขาในห้าง Macy's สั่งแบบถ้วยธรรมดาไม่ใส่ขนมปัง ได้เนื้อ Clam เยอะมาก อร่อยถูกใจ
Even though I was still pretty full from lunch and ice cream, I still wanted to try all the famous food in one day. As I walked pass by the Boudin Bakery shop once again, I couldn't help trying their famous clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl.
The soup was very good, but I was disappointed that I didn't get a lot of clams in it. Days later, I went to have supper at the Boudin Bakery and Cafe at Macy's Union Square. I ordered Clam chowder in a regular bowl and was very pleased as I got a lot of clams at this location.
ทานอิ่มแล้วก็ไปนั่งรถรางสาย F-line ไปยัง Ferry Building แล้วก็เดินไปหลังตึกเพื่อไปชม Bay Bridge วิวสวยดี แต่พื้นที่ค่อนข้างสกปรกนิดหน่อย
After we finished the clam chowder, we took the F-line street car to the Ferry Building. We walked to the back of the building to see the Bay Bridge. The view was beautiful, but the ground in that area was a bit dirty.
ชมวิวสะพานเสร็จแล้วก็เดินกลับไปหน้าตึกและข้ามถนนเดินต่อไปอีกหน่อยเพื่อรอขึ้นรถ Cable car สาย California นั่งกลับไปยังโรงแรม มีป้ายจอดด้านข้างโรงแรม เดินทางสะดวกสบายมาก สายนี้ไม่ต้องต่อคิวขึ้นรถเลยค่ะ ใครอยากลองนั่งรถราง Cable แต่ไม่อยากรอนานก็มาขึ้นที่สายนี้แทนได้เลยค่ะ
Then we walked across the street from the Ferry Building to get on the California-line cable car. We didn't have to wait in line at all, it was easy to get a seat. We got off at a stop by the hotel, it was so convenient.
